DANIEL CLASING
Daniel Clasing got his start with horses at a young age in Maryland under the tutelage of Ann McKay. He started eventing seriously at the age of 13, training with Packy McGaughan and Phillip Dutton since 2003. His early career highlights include winning the 2002 Virginia CCI*, Team Bronze at the NAYRC CCI*, and a solid Intermediate and Advanced campaign with Yardley. When Dan was just sixteen, his eventual four-star mount, Houston, came into his life as a weanling. Dan started Houston from the ground up, learning along the way the importance of partnership and the roadmap for producing a horse to the top.
Dan received a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from the University of Delaware, competing Yardley and Houston throughout his undergraduate career while based in Unionville, PA. Dan opened his training business at Yardley Hill Farm in 2007 where he focused on breaking young horses and helping problem horses. In addition Dan spent eight years galloping race horses at Pimlico, Laurel and Fair Hill race tracks gaining a reputation for managing difficult horses through patience and horsemanship. His career with Houston culminated with two double clear cross country rounds at Rolex Kentucky in 2013 and 2014, finishing just outside the top twenty each occasion. After these successes, Houston’s sale financed Dan’s relocation to Pennsylvania and the purchase of a few exciting prospects.
Dan’s background gives him a keen awareness for how horses think, bringing a deeper understanding to Clasing Equestrian’s training and management approach.
